We have eleven Monthly Meetings throughout the year beginning in February and finishing in December. Nine of the meetings have the same format. We have a local history speaker for the first hour and a refreshment internal for tea/coffee and biscuits. Non-members are encouraged to attend these meetings. The April meeting is our Annual General Meeting, where we elect our officers for the year, have some local history films and members can pay annual subscriptions. Our ‘end of year’ meeting in December is a Christmas social with seasonal activities. Programme of Meetings
The society supports and encourages members to: Create presentations/talks concerning their interests and we are always happy for members to give their talks at our meetings. Produce articles/books on local history. We are pleased to publish short articles in our quarterly Newsletter. Carry out research into our local and regional history. Of course, we are happy to have members who simply wish to listen to a monthly talks. This is the majority of our members and we are grateful that they support us.
The society publishes a regular Newsletter. We are currently enhancing this to give a brief monthly Newsletter with a meeting report and agenda for next meeting. There is an expanded quarterly Newsletter with the meeting report, activities, news, and articles of historical importance. Issues of our newsletters can be found at Newsletter

We have eleven Monthly Meetings throughout the year beginning in February and finishing in December. The ten meetings until November all have the same format. We have a speaker for the first hour, a refreshment internal for tea/coffee and biscuits and this is followed by updates on our activities. Non members are encouraged to attend these meetings. Our ‘end of year’ meeting in December is a members Christmas social. Programme of Meetings Since we formed the Society in 2009, we have had an Exhibition related to the history of Redditch at Forge Mill Needle Museum which we have reprised in part at other events where we have been present. In these exhibitions we have encompassed the history of our town, Redditch in WW2, Redditch industry and Redditch people. Activities The society publishes a monthly newsletter – Redditch Heritage Matters – which contains meeting and event reports, news, research by members, requests for help and memories submitted by member and non-members. Input to the newsletter is always welcome from both members and non-members. The current newsletter, and all back editions, can be accessed on line at the society’s web site at Newsletter As a local community group, the Redditch Local History Society is committed to supporting community activities. We are therefore present at Outside Events such as the Redditch Bandstand Festivals, the Heritage Day at Forge Mill needle Museum, the events organised by the Headless Cross Community Orchard and St Leonard’s Beoley Summer Fete. Activities Although we have no storage facilities we have a strictly controlled Archive System where we identify material which has been donated to the Society. These archives are stored by members of the Society but are available for use by individuals for research purposes. We also have a library of out of print local history books available for loan by members. Archives
